Husqvarna is the Swedish company that sold some of the first mainstream robot mowers under the Automower name. In 2026 its range is split by region. US buyers mainly see the wire-free iQ series. UK buyers get a wider mix: low-cost V models that use cameras and Wi-Fi, premium NERA models, and older wired models.
We have not tested these mowers ourselves. This review pulls together Husqvarna's own specifications, independent reviews from outlets such as Expert Reviews, Tom's Guide and TechRadar, and patterns in owner ratings on Husqvarna's site. Best Husqvarna for bigger US lots
Husqvarna Automower 420 iQ and 440 iQ
Best for: Flat to gently sloping US yards of 1 to 2 acres
- Price
- 420 iQ around $3,299; 440 iQ around $4,299 at launch (Oct 2026, US only)
- Lawn size
- 420 iQ: 1 acre (about 4,000 m²); 440 iQ: 2 acres (about 8,100 m²)

- Partial guide wire can fix tricky spots under trees
Cons
- Expensive per acre compared with Segway's X series
- Not all-wheel drive, so steep banks need the 435 iQ AWD instead
Verdict: These are the 410 iQ with bigger batteries and coverage. They make sense for large, open US lots where you want one machine to handle everything. For steep ground, look at the AWD model below.

Best value Husqvarna (UK)
Husqvarna Automower Aspire R6V
Best for: Small UK gardens with good Wi-Fi coverage

- around £999 (Oct 2026, UK only, sold on husqvarna.com/uk)

Verdict: The R6V is a near twin of the 308V with a smaller rated area. If your lawn is under 600 m² and your Wi-Fi reaches the far end, it is the easiest way into a Husqvarna.

Best Husqvarna for medium UK gardens
Husqvarna Automower 308V and 312V
Best for: UK gardens of 800 to 1,200 m² that want pattern mowing without a wire
- Price
- 308V around £1,249; 312V around £1,499 (Oct 2026, UK dealers)
- Lawn size
- 308V: 800 m² (about 0.2 acre); 312V: 1,200 m² (about 0.3 acre)

Pros
- Very accurate positioning (Husqvarna claims around 5 cm)
- Good obstacle avoidance in Expert Reviews' assessment
- Stripe and checkerboard patterns
- Optional 4G module (£175) or EPOS receiver (£280) if Wi-Fi is patchy
Cons
- Needs Wi-Fi across the lawn unless you buy an add-on
- Small front wheels can struggle with bumps over a couple of centimetres
- No rear edge disc, so it leaves a wider strip at borders than the 305E NERA
Verdict: Expert Reviews rated the 308V as excellent and full of tech. It suits medium gardens where the owner wants a neat, patterned finish. Budget for an add-on if your router does not reach the bottom of the garden.

- Obstacle sensing
- AI object avoidance
Pros
- EPOS satellite positioning built for accuracy near trees and buildings
- Wide UK dealer network for installation and servicing
- 430V covers up to 4,800 m² (about 1.2 acres) in one machine

Verdict: NERA models are for buyers who want a dealer to set everything up and look after it. If you are happy to install a mower yourself, Segway and Mammotion offer more for the money.
Husqvarna robot lawn mower range explained
Husqvarna sells its robot mowers under the Automower name. The model names look confusing, but the letters tell you a lot:
- iQ (US): the 2025 to 2026 wire-free line. It uses satellite positioning to stay inside a virtual boundary you draw in the app.
- V (UK): wire-free models that get their positioning corrections through Husqvarna's cloud over Wi-Fi, with a camera for spotting obstacles. The 308V, 312V and Aspire R6V launched for the 2026 season.
- NERA (UK and Europe): the premium platform. These work with EPOS, Husqvarna's high-accuracy satellite system (similar to RTK, a method that corrects GPS errors down to a few centimetres).
- AWD: all-wheel drive for steep slopes.
- E, X and H: older naming for extra features, connectivity or high-cut versions. Some wired models remain on sale.
Husqvarna's UK site lists 39 robot mowers, from around £760 to commercial machines over £30,000. Most homeowners only need to consider the handful above.
How good is a Husqvarna robot lawn mower?
Independent reviews are broadly positive on cutting quality and accuracy. Expert Reviews called the Automower 308V an excellent mower with very accurate positioning and impressive obstacle avoidance. Its main complaints were the need for whole-garden Wi-Fi and a fiddly boundary editor.
Owner ratings are more mixed. On Husqvarna's US site, the iQ range averages 3.9 out of 5 from 252 reviews, and the wired 435X AWD sits at 3.6 from 60 reviews. Common themes in owner reviews of robot mowers in general are setup frustrations, losing signal under trees, and app glitches. Read the newest reviews before buying, as firmware updates often fix early problems.
The biggest reason to choose Husqvarna is support. It has a large network of dealers in both the US and UK who can install, service and repair mowers. Newer brands mostly rely on online support and posting parts.
Husqvarna vs Segway Navimow and Mammotion
Husqvarna usually costs more for the same lawn size. For example, a half-acre Automower 410 iQ is around $2,599, while Segway's one-acre Navimow X430 is around $2,499 and adds all-wheel drive. In the UK, Expert Reviews noted that the Segway Navimow i208 is about £250 cheaper than the 308V, though it lacks pattern mowing.
Choose Husqvarna if you value dealer servicing and a long track record. Choose Segway Navimow or Mammotion if you want more features and coverage per pound or dollar. Our compare page puts Husqvarna and Segway Navimow head to head.
What to check before buying an Automower
- Lawn size in your units. US listings use acres; UK listings use square metres. One acre is about 4,047 m². Buy a model rated a little above your lawn size.
- Sky view and Wi-Fi. iQ and NERA models need a reasonable view of the sky. V models need Wi-Fi across the whole lawn, or an add-on module.
- Slopes. Standard models suit gentle slopes. For banks steeper than about 45%, look at AWD models.
- Cutting height. US warm-season and tall fescue lawns often need 3 to 4 inches. The iQ models reach 4 in (100 mm); the 308V tops out at 50 mm (2 in).
- Installation. Wired and NERA models are often fitted by a dealer, which can add cost. Ask for a quote up front.
Who should buy a Husqvarna robot lawn mower?
Buy a Husqvarna if you want a well-known brand with local service, or if you already use Husqvarna dealers for other garden kit. It is also a sensible pick for very large US lots, as the 440 iQ is rated for 2 acres.
Skip it if you are on a tight budget or want the newest features such as LiDAR (a laser sensor that maps your garden). Our cheapest robot lawn mower and wire-free guides cover cheaper alternatives.
How we chose
We have not tested Husqvarna mowers. We built this review from Husqvarna's US and UK product pages and press releases, independent reviews (Expert Reviews, Tom's Guide, 9to5Toys price tracking, Consumer Reports' tested list), and owner rating patterns on Husqvarna's own sites. Prices were checked in October 2026 and change often, especially in spring and around Black Friday.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Husqvarna Automower cost?
In the US, wire-free iQ models run from around $2,599 (410 iQ) to around $4,999 (435 iQ AWD) as of October 2026. In the UK, prices start at £999 for the Aspire R6V and rise to £3,699 RRP for the 430V NERA, with older wired models sometimes cheaper.
Where is the Husqvarna robot mower made?
Husqvarna is a Swedish company. It does not state a single country of manufacture for every Automower on its product pages, so check the label or ask your dealer if origin matters to you.
Do Husqvarna robot mowers need a boundary wire?
Not the newer ones. The US iQ series and UK V and NERA models use virtual boundaries set in the app. Some older UK models still use a physical wire, and the iQ and NERA models let you add a short guide wire for problem areas.
Is Husqvarna the most reliable robot mower brand?
There is no independent long-term reliability data that ranks robot mower brands. Husqvarna has the longest track record and the biggest dealer network, which makes repairs easier, but owner ratings on its own site average around 3.6 to 4.5 out of 5 depending on the model.
Can a Husqvarna Automower handle hills?
Standard models suit moderate slopes, and the UK 308V and 312V are rated for 40%. The Automower 435 iQ AWD is rated for slopes up to 70%.
Do Husqvarna V models work without Wi-Fi?
They need Wi-Fi across the lawn for positioning corrections. Husqvarna sells an optional cellular module (£175) or EPOS receiver (£280) for gardens where Wi-Fi does not reach, according to Expert Reviews.
