Humanoid Robot UK Guide 2026: What You Can Buy, Hire and Expect

The short answerThe main humanoid robot UK shoppers can buy today comes from Unitree: the R1 Basic at £8,038.80 and the G1 at £20,999.99, both including VAT from UK retailers (October 2026). The 1X NEO home robot is US-only until 2027, and Tesla Optimus and Figure 03 cannot be bought anywhere. Event hire is available in London.

Most humanoid robot news comes from the US and China, so UK buyers are often unsure what they can actually get here. The short answer: a handful of research and education humanoids are on sale with UK prices, nothing designed for housework is sold in Britain yet, and several industrial robots are planning UK launches in 2027.

Prices on this page were checked on 26 October 2026 and include VAT unless stated. We have not tested these robots; we rely on retailer listings, manufacturer specifications and company announcements. For worldwide prices, see our humanoid robot prices and delivery status page.

Humanoid robot UK prices: what you can buy today

Yes, but only research and education models. Two UK retailers had Unitree humanoids listed with sterling prices including VAT on 26 October 2026:

  • Unitree R1 Basic, £8,038.80 at RobotShop UK. A 123 cm walking humanoid with 26 joints and about an hour of battery. Listed as made to order, shipping in 3 to 4 weeks, with shipping charged at checkout. RobotShop says on-demand items cannot be returned except for defects. Its listing mentions EU and US variants, so confirm you are getting a UK plug and charger.
  • Unitree G1, £20,999.99 at Scan. A 132 cm research humanoid with LiDAR, listed under model code UNITREE-G1-STANDARD with next-day delivery. Confirm with Scan whether this is the base model or an EDU version before buying, as only EDU versions can be reprogrammed.

Importing a humanoid robot to the UK

Some robots, such as the Unitree H2 ($29,900) and AgiBot A2 Lite ($44,560), have no UK retailer we could find, so you would buy from the maker's international store. If you import:

  • Budget for import VAT at 20% on the price plus shipping, plus any customs duty and courier handling fees.
  • Check the charger and plug suit UK 230 V mains, and ask for a UK adaptor or charger.
  • Look for CE or UKCA marking and a declaration of conformity, especially if the robot will be used at work.
  • Ask who repairs it in the UK. Shipping a 35 to 70 kg robot back to China for a warranty repair is slow and expensive. Unitree's base warranties run only 6 to 8 months.
  • Compare the landed cost with a UK retailer price that already includes VAT.

Home humanoids: when will they come to the UK?

Not in 2026. The only home humanoid on order anywhere, the 1X NEO ($20,000 or $499 a month), is sold in the US only, and 1X says other markets follow from 2027. No UK price has been announced.

Tesla Optimus cannot be bought anywhere: Tesla expects first deliveries to outside companies around the end of 2027, industrial customers first. Figure 03 has no price or pre-order. XPeng plans to bring its IRON humanoid to Europe in the second half of 2027, starting with commercial uses rather than homes.

If you see a UK website or social media ad selling Optimus or a household robot butler for a few hundred pounds, it is a scam or a toy.

Humanoid robots for UK businesses

  • Agility Robotics Digit 5: Agility said on 15 September 2026 that it will offer Digit outside North America for the first time, starting with the EU and UK, with CE marking and other marks covering Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Early access is expected in the first half of 2027 and general availability by the end of 2027. Agility leases robots as a service rather than selling them.
  • Humanoid (London): Britain's own humanoid start-up raised a $152 million Series A at a $1.35 billion valuation in July 2026. Its HMND 01 comes in wheeled and two-legged versions; Siemens is trialling it in Germany and Schaeffler has agreed to take thousands of robots. It planned beta robots by the end of 2026 and has no public price.
  • Unitree and AgiBot: available now for research, demos and receptions, through UK retailers or import.

Humanoid robot hire in the UK

If you need a humanoid for an event, exhibition or product launch rather than to own one, hire is far cheaper than buying. London-based Humanizing offers humanoid robot hire, including the Unitree G1 and talking humanoids, for exhibitions, conferences and corporate events across the UK and several EU countries. It quotes on request rather than publishing rates. Ask any hire company whether an operator is included, what the robot does autonomously versus by remote control, and what insurance covers.

Safety and the law

There is no UK law specifically for owning a humanoid robot, but general rules apply. At work, the Health and Safety at Work Act and machinery safety rules mean employers must assess the risks of any robot used around staff. At home, treat a 30 to 70 kg walking robot like power equipment: give it clear space and keep children and pets away while it moves. If a robot has cameras and microphones that connect to the internet, UK data protection law applies to footage of other people, so tell visitors and staff.

Our advice for UK buyers

  • Learning or a school project: Unitree R1 from RobotShop UK.
  • University research: Unitree G1 from Scan, ideally an EDU version.
  • An event: hire, do not buy.
  • Help at home: wait for 2027 and buy single-task robots now, such as robot vacuums and robot mowers, which are widely sold in the UK.
