Figure 03 is one of the most searched humanoid robots in the world, helped by slick videos of it folding laundry and loading dishwashers. Figure markets it for homes as well as workplaces. The reality in late 2026 is that it works in factories and warehouses for partners, and no consumer can buy one.
This guide is built from Figure's own specifications and announcements, BMW's statements, independent shipment data from IDC and trade coverage, all dated. We have not seen or used a Figure 03. If you want a humanoid you can actually order, see our humanoid robot prices and delivery status.

Who makes Figure 03?
Figure 03 is made by Figure AI, a robotics company founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock and based in California. It raised more than $1 billion in September 2025 at a $39 billion valuation, with investors including Nvidia, Intel, Brookfield and Qualcomm. Figure builds the robots at its own factory, called BotQ, and develops its own AI model, called Helix, after ending an earlier partnership with OpenAI.
Figure 03 price: can you buy one?
No. Figure has not published a price and does not take orders, deposits or waitlist sign-ups. Its product page offers only a contact form and newsletter sign-up. Any website or social media ad selling a Figure 03 is not Figure.
In May 2026 Adcock talked about leasing the robot for home use at around $600 a month, but as of 26 October 2026 no lease has opened. Industrial partners pay under private agreements whose terms are not public. Searches for "Figure 03 price" peaked when the robot launched in October 2025 and many sites still quote guesses; we only report figures Figure has published.
Figure 03 specs
Figure's official specifications (checked October 2026):
- Height: 5 ft 8 in (173 cm)
- Weight: 61 kg
- Payload: 20 kg
- Runtime: 5 hours
- Walking speed: 1.2 m/s
At launch, Figure also described a redesigned camera system with a wider field of view, cameras in the palms, fingertip touch sensors sensitive enough to handle delicate objects, soft washable outer coverings and wireless inductive charging, so the robot can top up by standing on a charging pad. Helix, Figure's vision-language-action model (AI that turns what the robot sees and hears into movements), was extended to control the whole body in Helix 02, released on 27 January 2026.
Where is Figure 03 working today?
- BMW, Spartanburg (South Carolina): Figure said on 30 June 2026 that Figure 03 had begun parts sequencing work at BMW's plant. Its predecessor, Figure 02, worked there for about ten months and supported the production of more than 30,000 BMW X3 vehicles.
- Logistics: in May 2026 Figure livestreamed a group of Figure 03 robots sorting packages almost continuously for nearly a week.
- Retail supply chain: Figure has named Catalyst Brands as a commercial partner.
Figure said in late June 2026 that about 740 of its robots were operating. Note the gap between claims and independent data: Figure says BotQ had delivered over 350 Figure 03 robots by 29 April 2026, mostly to its own programmes, while IDC's first-half 2026 shipment estimate, reported by Forbes, credits Figure with only "a few dozen" shipped to customers.
Figure 03 release date and timeline
- 9 October 2025: Figure 03 unveiled, billed as a robot for the home and the workplace.
- 27 January 2026: Helix 02 released, extending AI control to the whole body.
- 29 April 2026: Figure says over 350 Figure 03 robots delivered and BotQ producing one robot per hour.
- May 2026: week-long package-sorting livestream; Adcock talks about a home lease of about $600 a month.
- 30 June 2026: Figure 03 starts parts sequencing at BMW Spartanburg.
- August 2026: Figure shares video of Figure 03 climbing a short ladder on its own.
There is no announced consumer release date. Based on public statements, a home product would most likely start as a lease in the US, and Figure has given no timetable for the UK or Europe.
Figure 03 vs Tesla Optimus
These are the two US humanoids people compare most. Neither can be bought.
- Production: Figure has been building Figure 03 at BotQ since 2025 and reports hundreds delivered. Tesla said on 22 October 2026 that early production of Optimus had begun on a high-volume line at Fremont, using the Gen 3 design.
- Real work: Figure has dated, partner-confirmed factory work at BMW. Musk said in January 2026 that Optimus was not yet doing useful work in Tesla factories in a material way.
- Price: neither has a public price. Musk's long-running target for Optimus is $20,000 to $30,000 at scale.
- Availability: Tesla expects first deliveries to outside companies around the end of 2027, industrial customers first. Figure has floated a home lease but not opened one.
- Specs: Figure publishes height, weight, payload and runtime. Tesla has not published an official Gen 3 spec sheet.
On today's evidence, Figure is further along in paid industrial work, while Tesla has the larger planned manufacturing scale. See our Tesla Optimus guide for the full Tesla timeline.
Figure 03 vs 1X NEO for the home
If you want a home humanoid, 1X NEO is the only one you can order, at $20,000 or $499 a month in the US, with caveats about remote operators and limited evidence of deliveries. Figure 03 is bigger, heavier and claims a longer runtime, but it is not offered to households at all. Read our 1X NEO review and humanoid robots for the home guide.
Safety and what to watch
Figure 03 uses softer outer materials than earlier models, but a 61 kg robot that can lift 20 kg needs careful safety engineering around people. In November 2025 Figure's former head of product safety filed a lawsuit alleging he was dismissed after raising concerns about the robots' strength; Figure has disputed the claims. Watch for three signals before believing a home launch is near: a published price, a safety certification for home use, and independent reviews of the robot working without remote help.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Figure 03 cost?
Figure has not published a price, and you cannot buy one. In May 2026 its CEO talked about a home lease of around $600 a month, but no lease had opened as of 26 October 2026.
Can you buy a Figure robot?
No. Figure 03 robots go to Figure's own programmes and industrial partners such as BMW. There is no pre-order, deposit or waitlist.
Which company makes Figure 03?
Figure AI, a California robotics company founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock. It builds the robot at its BotQ factory and develops its own Helix AI.
When will Figure 03 be released to the public?
There is no announced consumer release date. Figure says it is moving into the home, but as of October 2026 robots go only to internal programmes and business partners.
How tall is Figure 03 and how much does it weigh?
5 ft 8 in (173 cm) and 61 kg, with a 20 kg payload and about 5 hours of runtime, according to Figure.
Is Figure 03 better than Tesla Optimus?
Figure 03 has more public evidence of paid factory work, including at BMW, and published specs. Tesla announced early Optimus production in October 2026 and expects outside deliveries around the end of 2027. Neither is on sale.
How much is Elon Musk's new robot?
Tesla Optimus has no price. Musk has targeted $20,000 to $30,000 per robot at scale, but there is no pre-order.
